UJC Development & Communications Intern

Job description
The Urban Justice Center is looking for a Development & Communications intern to provide operational and development support, as well as help accelerate our PR, marketing, research, and communications goals. This position will provide hands-on experience in managing development and communications administrative tasks that will support the execution of events, fundraisers, campaigns, etc.
The position will support the development team with a variety of tasks, responsibilities including, but not limited to: supporting newsletter and website building, editing, and publishing; creating engaging social media content (researching, caption writing, designing, scheduling); CRM/donor platform management (DonorPerfect) including data entry and organizing; conducting general industry or in-house research; supporting pitch deck development and partnership outreach; and other administrative tasks as needed.
The Development & Communications intern must be looking to work between 5-15 hours a week across the fall and winter with preference for a longer-term commitment and continuation if desired. The intern would ideally start September (flexible) and work part-time at a rate of $15/hr until the end of December (flexible).
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduate, or equivalent/relevant experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- In-depth knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (or “X”), LinkedIn
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Excel, and conducting research
- Experience with graphic design (Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) a plus
- Experience with databases a plus
- Passionate about social justice, non-profit management, development, and communications
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively
- Takes initiative to project and propose next steps
- Has a team spirit, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a sense of humor
